Bishop Enrique Angelelli: always present in our hearts
The memory of the murdered bishop is guiding the steps of its people toward justice
PRESS RELEASE
30 years since bishop Angelelli´s assassination
The undersigned human rights organizations:
We want to be present in all the acts which pay tribute and remembrance to Monsignor Enrique Angelelli and with him to Carlos de Dios Murias, Gabriel Longueville and Wenceslao Pedemera, all victims of state terrorism, savagely murdered like the bishop.
Monsignor Angelelli was a model of fidelity to the Gospel which gave a deeper meaning to his life; a model of the true and unbetrayable support to the poor; a model of service to the people; a model of consistency, commitment and dedication to a cause embraced with passion.
Monsignor Angelelli advised to open a ear towards people so to hear their hopes, sufferings, pains and shortcomings, and to open the other ear to the Gospel’s message about Jesus accordingly in order to respond to the numerous unacceptable situations which its “sheep” were going through. He was a pastor who knew and loved everyone and who was willing to give his life for them and for what he believed, preached and practiced.
We, from the human rights organizations, in addition to the relatives of the disappeared, received his support and assistance in our struggle and now we reaffirm his commitment to the needy, his rejection of discrimination, his faith in the young people and their dedication to building happiness, along with the dreams and hopes of the 30,000 detained and disappeared.
