Public letter to the president of the Nation
On this Independence Day, we have given the government our document
Public Letter to Your Excellency Mr. President of the Nation
Dr. Nestor Kirchner
S/D
Dear Mr. President,
Today, May 25,
We also stress your decision to publicly appear with facts and significant gestures about this delayed vindication, which without doubt, contributed to the reinsertion of brace cultural humanitarian parameters in the society.
We support the positive advances to bring to the forefront the country in ruins with an enormous suffering of the masses. Still today, much is lacking in order to advance so that all the Argentines can live with dignity, justice, equality and solidarity, as our children dreamed, and for which they have their lives.
Unfortunately, unacceptable violations against human rights still persist: prisons throughout the country have been converted into concentration camps, which brought us back to the 70s; a situation of extreme poverty, which made a revision of the unjust distribution of wealth indispensable.
The Madres continue in the permanent search for Truth, Justice and Memory, until we know the destinies of all and each one of our 30.000 detained-disappeared, and demanding the Court for collective, effective and perpetual imprisonment for those guilty of crimes “against humanity”.
Today, Independence Day, this Thursday, the Madres will unite our power with that of the masses to march in our routine circles around the Plaza, from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m., embracing the hope of a strengthened democracy in its institutions and with complete social justice.
Mr. President, Las Madres de Plaza de Mayo Founding Line wish you the greatest of successes with an affectionate hug,
For the Madres,
Marta O. de Vasquez, Laura Conte
Taty Almeida, Beatriz Lewin
